Geek dreams

I had the most amazing dream last night. I dreamed I was playing Magic: The Gathering with a borrowed deck, and it turned out the deck had some elaborate combo that allowed me to start my first turn with a 5/5 creature and two 8/8 creatures.

The funny thing is, I haven’t even played Magic in years. (Which is not me trying to deny my geekiness or anything; when I get back to the states I fully intend to assemble a group for a GURPS campaign.) I think the dream may have been subconsciously inspired by this video, which I think must have appeared on BoingBoing or something a month or two ago:

I am in love with MTG. I actually laughed out loud when I saw this post.

P.S. I really could use your help with some Thomist philosophers of the Feser persuasion. If you care to engage in the dialogue I would really appreciate it. It’s a facebook group that is supposedly the dialogue between non-christians and christians, but it ends up being just me arguing against about fifteen christian apologists.

Oh, and if you happened to have this specific hand, you could cast two 5/5s and a 8/8 on your first turn. Shimmer Myr Chancellor of the Tangle x 2 Channel Ulamog’s Crusher Phyrexian Juggernaut x 2

Reveal both Chancellor’s. Cast Channel. Cast Shimmer Myr. Then cast Ulamog’s Crusher and both of your Phyrexian Juggernauts. Bam! Two 5/5s an 8/8 and a bonus 2/2. There are also about a million different ways you could do this. You could even summon a creature with near infinite power and toughness this way. I say near infinite power, because the official rules say that power and toughness must be a non-negative finite whole number. For some reason that ruling just screams philosophy.

Just now realized that you said two 8/8s and a 5/5. Meh.

This version was silly, but I’m pretty sure the sliver kill version was WAY more consistent and actually playable in vintage.
