Revelation 4: You Are Worthy

Revelation 4: You Are Worthy December 6, 2011

“You are worthy, our Lord and God,

to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.” -Revelation 4:11

Those in heaven rightly recognize who Jesus is and respond properly. We find in their words a pattern worthy of repetition in our lives today.

First, they cried, “You are worthy.” They began with stating God’s worth, not their own.

Second, they recognized Jesus as “Lord and God.” He is the one who was, is, and is to come.

Third, they noted Christ as the one who created all things. Just as we find in John 1 and Colossians 1, Christ was involved in every aspect of the universe’s creation.

Fourth, everything that exists is due to the work of God as well as the sustaining of all things.

If this is the case, there is no other response than worship. Let us remember today that our Lord is not only to be followed, but to be worshiped for who he is and what he has done.
