2 Chronicles 36: No Remedy

15 The Lord, the God of their ancestors, sent word to them through his messengers again and again, because he had pity on his people and on his dwelling place. 16 But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed at his prophets until the wrath of the Lord was aroused against his people and there was no remedy. -2 Chronicles 36:15-16

God’s judgment comes when there is no remedy. In Israel’s case, he sent many messengers to call his people to change. The people and their leaders mocked God’s messengers.

The result was God’s anger put into action. God’s is slow to anger, but when it happens, it is devastating.

While the situation is different today than in Israel’s past, the principles remain. God is calling people to repent, to turn to him. He is sending many messengers to communicate his message. Those who hear and respond are blessed. Those who will not respond to his message will face future judgment. This is not a source of joy for the godly, but a matter of prayer. Our desire must be to pray and to offer God’s hope to those who have yet to receive it. We are called to be faithful to the end, knowing God is the one who will someday proclaim judgment.
