If you’ve never read…

When I was first teaching in seminary, we brought in Robert Banks who spoke on a book he had just written, but he also spoke with me about a book called Going to Church in the First Century and if you’ve not read it, it is worth it. It is a story of Publius going to church in the first century in Rome. Very short (maybe about 50 pages); fiction; wood cut images. Suggestive of all sorts of things. I’ve been recommending it for a long, long time.

"It's in common use because Too many so-called Chistians capitulated."

Creation is Salvation (RJS)
"Great. So you would rather please men. I get it."

Creation is Salvation (RJS)
"You forgot to mention the itinerant artist who was paid by a special "love offering" ..."

How the Church Has Changed
"Yes, but they (Ulrich Luz, etc.) don't really like what he does. :)"

  • word up, Doc.That is a great book. It really helped us in planning a first-century-esque communion service at church a few months ago.
