World Vision Children in Haiti

Kris and I have sponsored a child in Haiti for a few years, and we are glad to receive this report today from World Vision’s site:

Note for sponsors with a sponsored child living in Haiti or the Dominican Republic: We value your commitment to sponsoring a child in Haiti or its neighbor, the Dominican Republic. Our staff on the ground report that all sponsored children in World Vision sponsorship communities and surrounding areas are safe at this time. However, we will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as we learn more. Please know that if your sponsored child is directly affected, it is our policy to notify you as soon as possible.

    I have sponsored a child from Haiti for quite some time too. However, it is through Compassion instead of WV. They sent us something saying they are still working on tracking everyone down. So its nice to know that WV at least knows that all of their people are safe.

    We have learned through our local news that a young woman from our community was killed in the orphanage where she was working as a volunteer.–please pray for Molly from Port Orchard and her family.
    I also assume that many others including the children were also killed there.
