Jeffrey Goldberg: “I have no words”

From The Atlantic, the whole article by Goldberg and my observation:

I have no words for the Nationals’ meltdown. This is what it must be like to be a Cubs fan.

On the other hand, the Nats had a much better season than anyone could have imagined.

Shabbat shalom.

You have no idea, Mr Goldberg. No idea what it is like to be a Cubs fan. Those losses are not what it is like to be a Cubs fan. Not. Even. Close. Do you know how long we’ve been at it?

C’mon, Scot…give me a break. With the suffering we have endured, we Cleveland Fans WISH we were Cubs fans,

Cleveland can stand with us, but the Nationals are brand newbies and have nothing on Cubs fans.

Yeah, it’s nothing like being a Cubs fan. Up 3-1 on the Marlins in 2003. Beckett’s masterpiece, followed by the Bartman incident and then the Game 7 loss…the eventual decay and decomposition of Mark Prior’s arm…I still think about the 2003 post-season sometimes and wince.

It’s a lifetime of disappointment, not just a season or so. My dad suffered through the drought years after Charlie Grimm during WWII and we both suffered because of the Cub’s collapse at the expense of the Mets in 1969. They broke our hearts in 1984 against San Diego and the “ball between the legs” of Leon Durham. I swear I have PTSD from the Cubs and that’s probably more than any Nats (or Cleveland) fan can say.

Shabbat Shalom this Sukkot season too, Mr. Goldberg.

Closer to being a Vikings fan. Good thing I don’t care about the most violent sport on the planet oops I mean football.

    Try being a Pirates fan.

I heard the Cubs are moving to the Phillipines. They’re going to rename them the “Manila Folders.”
