How Much Is Your Soul Worth?

How Much Is Your Soul Worth?

“Look, does it make sense to truly become successful, but then to hand over your very soul? What is your soul really worth?” (Matthew 16:26, The Voice)

There is a website which gives you a quiz to play to determine a value for your soul in “soul dollars.” It claims that Satan will place a value on your soul based on answers to a set of fifteen questions. He does a very good job of tricking us to believe that the value of our soul is based on the good works I do.

We attach value to the idea of success in life. Be successful in marriage. Get a great job. Get first place in that golfing tournament. And if I can’t be successful, then I can sure live vicariously through my children and grandchildren. My kids get A’s in class. My son is the star football player at the local high school. My granddaughter is a star pianist.

Yet, according to Jesus, your soul has more value than your successes in life. He also tells you that your soul is valuable only in the hands of the right Person. How much is your soul worth?

A million dollars? A billion dollars? What about a trillion dollars, or even a quadrillion dollars?

It is hard to place a value on relationships. It is just as hard to put a value on your soul. No matter what value you place on your soul, it is certainly more valuable than your successes. Your soul is also more valuable than the lies Satan wants to tell you. Your soul is so valuable, Jesus decided to sacrifice His life for your soul. So instead of handing your soul over to Satan and getting what he thinks it is worth (and obviously by looking at my “soul dollar” amount, it isn’t worth much to him), give your soul to Jesus, who knows it is worth much more.
