On The Road Again

This Sunday, July 11, I’ll be the guest lay speaker at First Jefferson Unitarian Universalist Church in Fort Worth. I’ll be speaking on “The Hero’s Journey, Part II.” We’re all familiar with the myth of the hero. But what happens when the quest is over, and we try to live happily ever after? This is a slight refreshing of the sermon I gave at DUUF last April.

I’ve been to CUUPS events at First Jefferson, but this will be my first time at a Sunday service there. It’s also the first time I’ve been a guest preacher since my trips to Tyler UU and Longview UU in 2005.

The service begins at 11:00 AM and everyone is welcome. If you’re in the Fort Worth area, come out and say hello.

About John Beckett

I’m a Druid in the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. I’m an ordained priest in the Universal Gnostic Fellowship. I’m the Coordinating Officer of the Denton, Texas Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans. This year I’m also serving as a member of the Board of Trustees of CUUPS National. I’m a member of the Denton Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

I write as a spiritual practice. It helps me organize my thoughts and work through ideas and concepts. It helps me evaluate my beliefs and practices against my core values and against what I know (or at least, what I think I know) to be true. It helps me interpret my experiences (religious and otherwise) in ways that are both meaningful and honest.
