Pagan Pride Day

Daily Spiritual Practice for Pagans class.  Thanks to David Pollard for the photo.

I had a nice time at the DFW Pagan Pride Day yesterday.  Yes, it was hot, but there’s a fair amount of shade on the UU Oak Cliff property, plus air conditioning in the two buildings.  And dealing with the heat is much better than cramming vendors, dancers, rituals and classes inside to avoid the rain like we had to do last year.

We had 16 people for the Daily Spiritual Practice class and had some good discussion, particularly on recommendations for podcasts and music.  I participated in a Heathen ritual for the first time, and had a nice conversation with the folks from Holy Spring Fellowship, a Germanic Heathen group.

Most of my time was spent catching up with friends I hadn’t seen in a while and introducing myself to some folks I hadn’t met yet.  I met TommyElf of From The Edge of the Circle podcast and the folks from Shhh! There are Pagans in Texas!!  And I spent quite a while with Sacred Journey FellowshipDenton CUUPS is going to present another Full Moon Circle for them in January.

Thanks to all those who planned, organized, and sweated yesterday to help build our local Pagan community!

About John Beckett

I’m a Druid in the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. I’m an ordained priest in the Universal Gnostic Fellowship. I’m the Coordinating Officer of the Denton, Texas Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans. This year I’m also serving as a member of the Board of Trustees of CUUPS National. I’m a member of the Denton Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

I write as a spiritual practice. It helps me organize my thoughts and work through ideas and concepts. It helps me evaluate my beliefs and practices against my core values and against what I know (or at least, what I think I know) to be true. It helps me interpret my experiences (religious and otherwise) in ways that are both meaningful and honest.
