What McCain Supporters Look Like To Obama

Ineffectually threatening. Operates underground. Totally blind. Slings mud. Grabby. Extremely uncuddly. Probably the result of inbreeding.

(This, by the way, is a star-nosed mole. They can smell underwater, are impervious to weather, and are the fastest-eating mammals on the planet. Be afraid. Photo [and article here] by the great Kenneth Catania.)

So….as I'm a new Children's Director in La Jolla, could you bring these little creatures in some Sunday and talk about how God made them and loves them each – just the way they are????

    :)

Jon: Yeah, I mean … that's its FACE. Too insane. It's like God took a break, and one of his mentally challenged angels took a stab at creating something.

    Grace: No.

Ok, being the bio-geek I am, I truly thought I had seen just about everything.

I find myself grateful this thing is small. Very small. Very grateful.

As to the political side of these threads? I'm too schizophrenic in my beliefs right now to even comment. Other than to say it is bizarre in the extreme to one day be a committed "flaming liberal" (as my dad used to call me), and the next be suddenly Christian. The post-demolition dust is still settling. And even thinking about walking into the voting booth in November gives me a headache.

Candace: Do you figure that now that you're a Christian your "flaming liberal" days are over? Is that what you mean?

  • Candace

Kind of. And kind of not.

In some ways, I am more radical than I ever was. In others, more conservative than I ever figured I'd be.

Because I am, after all, trying to be more like Jesus. And He's like that.

Additionally, I care less than I used to, in a way. And more than I ever did, in another way.

I know I’m being a little obtuse here. Like I said, the dust is still settling and political perspectives I feel relatively able to articulate today may shift entirely tomorrow.

It is terribly frustrating for friends who previously relished arguing politics with me. They throw down the gauntlet, I look at it, smile, give them a hug and wander away in search of a diet Dew.

    Hee hee!

How John McCain views Hillary's supporters? Now there's a potentially interesting portrait, if there ever was one!

    Waiting with 'bated breath …

    Candace,

I'm strictly conservative in a liberal sort of way.

I don't want to get involved with all this apathy today.

I wrote that way back when John Anderson was a third-party candidate for president. Or was it Jon Anderson from Yes? I get so confused.

random aside, can you share the text you used to provide the side bar with all the subscription options? I haven't seen that before, and would love to put that on my blog as well.

Sam, my brother! I soooo relate.

Wasn’t John Anderson from Maine? I’m originally from Maine.

But, no, I didn’t know him

Are you sure it wasn’t Ian Anderson?

I had a seriously difficult time believing this critter actually exists so I double checked through Google and Wikipedia gave me this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star-nosed_mole on it.

Google Images gave me these to ponder: (1) http://www.mammalwatching.com/Nearctic/Images/Mai… and (2) http://lumq.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/star-n… !!!

Of course, there were many others, but I thought limiting it to the two most interesting ones was enough.

Any takers on what Minnesota's Bachmann's comment about "…slit our wrists…" in opposition to health care reform, what SHE would look like to Obama, or .. whomever? (Talk about a challenging one!)
