Newsworthy With Norsworthy August Edition August 31, 2016

NWNLogoMay2015-900x900So every month, my preacher buddy Luke Norsworthy and I sit down and talk about all things ministry/church/preaching and all the great podcast interviews that he did over the past month.

Luke’s got a consistently good podcast with fascinating guests, and I highly recommend subscribing to it.

This month we talked about Shawna Niequest’s new book Present Over Perfect, We discussed the theological showdown that happened with Chris Green and Pete Enns, and how out of his depth Luke was in that whole conversation, and Monica Coleman’s new book Bipolar Faith, about faith and mental health.

The last conversation of the month Luke had was with Dr. Rich Little.

Rich Little was both of our freshman Bible teacher (he liked me more), he was one of the first people who called me to preaching and is a good friend, and Rich recently resigned from preaching and was processing out loud with Luke what made him leave, and what he was going to do next.

I think the most damning thing about American church today is that so many of the preachers who quit preaching at a church also quit church. I think it says a lot about how our churches are functioning (or not). And so if you care about the local church, or have ever walked away or been tempted to walk away from one (or are a church leader and want to take care of your preacher) give this podcast a listen.
