TV executives like to say that their business isn’t driven by ideology but instead by money. If that were entirely true, then there’d probably be a sequel to, or a reimagining of, the long-running (1971-1981) CBS family drama “The Waltons” — which centered on a rural Virginia clan during the Great Depression and World War II — but there isn’t.

And there isn’t likely to be, at least on broadcast TV. More on that in the next post, but for now, fans and those wanting to learn more about the show can tune into the Monday, Aug. 3, edition of Hallmark Channel’s daily magazine show, “Home & Family,” which airs weekdays at 10 a.m. (ET/PT).

Guests will include Richard Thomas (son John Boy), Judy Norton (daughter Mary Ellen), Kami Cotler (daughter Elizabeth), Michael Learned (mother Olivia) and Mary McDonough (daughter Erin). There will be a “Waltons”-era DIY, a song performed by Judy Norton and a “Home & Family” living room makeover you won’t want to miss.

Here are some sneak peeks:

And there was even a “Waltons” version of “Family Feud”:

In the next installment — click here for that — I talk to the cast about why there isn’t really a 2015 version of the show.
