10 Catholic Things that Caught My Eye Today (June 3, 2015) June 3, 2015

1. O, Tobit!

2. Thanks be to God for women after Mass — it seems just about anywhere in the world – whose presence praying the Rosary nudges me to.

3. And I had the thought: The Salve Regina would have been Tobit’s kind of prayer …

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee to we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

4. At the end of the Rosary in the church I found myself for Mass today, one side of the church unintentionally prayed the St. Michael prayer and the other the Memorare. It had the effect of communicating: you are surrounded – with girding for spiritual battle.
You want the Blessed Mother’s help in times of grief, exile, plundering, and death. And any other time.

5. “Could Charles Lwanga ever have imagined that, in the year 2010, there would be 400,000,000 Christians in Africa? The Church remembers him and his fellow martyrs today.”

6. Knowing the Scriptures and the Power of God Uniting Ourselves to Christ Crucified

7. I love this: people are praying around the World Meeting of Families site, the Philadelphia convention center, and where Pope Francis will celebrate Mass, outside the Art Museum. (Don’t expect a Rocky run.)

(I talked to a new friend about a trial run here.)

8. Speaking of: That is really cool, dude:
