John Piper reads “The Children”

The Didache is the earliest known Christian document outside the New Testament, and is considered to be among the writings of the Apostolic Fathers.  Most scholars date the Didache to the end of the first century or beginning of the second century after Christ.

In the Didache, there is a clear commandment against abortion:

“Thou shalt not murder a child by abortion nor kill that which is begotten.”

–Didache 2:2

On January 22, 2013, the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision which legalized abortion in all fifty states, pro-lifers mourned the loss of 50 million babies to legal abortion in the United States alone.  The following video was produced to celebrate the lost infants’ brief lives, and to encourage people of faith to act on behalf of the helpless.

Here, Reformed Baptist theologian John Piper reads “The Children.”

Forty-one years after the legalization of abortion, the fight in the court is no longer whether or not abortion should be legal—for it is.  The fight is now focused on whether all must support the culture of death and pay for abortion and contraception in their health insurance plans, or whether the religious liberties of Americans will be respected and protected.
