LOSING FAITH IN AMERICA? Fox News Show Spotlights Cardinal Dolan, Dominican Sisters and Steubenville! September 24, 2015

If your eyes aren’t glazed over from all the Pope-watching this week, you may want to tune in this weekend for a Fox News special on…. you guessed it!… Faith!

Bill Hemmer, co-host of Fox News’ America’s Newsroom, has announced a special show which will air Friday on the Fox News Network. Fox News Reporting: Losing Faith in America? will air at 10 p.m. Friday, September 25, and will repeat at 10:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26 and at 9:00 p.m. Sunday, September 27.

At least three of the show’s segments have been revealed:

  • an interview with His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan, archbishop of New York. “And you know how he fills up a room!” Hemmer smiles, talking about his interview with the larger-than-life leader of the Catholic Church in the Big Apple.
  • a visit with the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. Hemmer expresses surprise that some of the 120 talented young women who have chosen religious life in that Ann Arbor-based order had promising careers and dropped out of Harvard or Notre Dame to seek a deeper relationship with Christ. and
  • a trip to Franciscan University of Steubenville.  Again, Hemmer is surprised–this time by the vibrancy of the students’ faith and by their adherence to Church doctrine. “They’re not changing!” he exclaims. Yep, Steubenville is Catholic!

In case you worry that the Catholic Faith is dead in America, watch the crowds in the papal parades this week; and then, if you still need proof, you need look no farther than the Cardinal, the Dominican Sisters and FUS.

Bill Hemmer admitted to his co-hosts on Out # (Out Numbered) Overtime that although he was raised in a devout Catholic family, he no longer attends Mass every week. He described what he believed to be the role of a pope as an “equal-opportunity offender” whose job it is to make everybody squirm. He expressed surprise at finding the Dominican Sisters’ convent in Michigan, where they are–as he exclaimed–attracting nuns! The show also points to the LGBT community in New York City, filling the church for their liturgy on Sundays. Hemmer talks about Baptist churches in Tennessee where their services are offered in Arabic.

Is  Fox News Reporting: Losing Faith in America? the best way to get your faith news this week? I don’t know.

I report. You decide.
