Langer Ties Trevino’s Record

Langer Ties Trevino’s Record August 29, 2016

Yesterday, 59-year old, two-time Masters champion Bernhard Langer tied Lee Trevino’s second-place record of most wins on the Senior/Champions Tour with 29 wins by winning the Boeing Classic in Snoqualmie, Washington, near Seattle.bernhardlanger

Langer won with a birdie four on the 18th hole, which was the first extra hole in a three-man, sudden-death playoff with Woody Austin and Kevin Sutherland. Both Langer and Austin have won four times this year on the Champions Tour. And Langer won the day after his 59th birthday. Langer is in good shape and looks young for his age. But it seems very unlikely that he will be able to catch Hale Irwin’s amazing, #1 record of 45 wins on the Senior/Champions Tour.

German-born, soft-spoken Bernhard Langer is an outspoken Christian and member of the Chapel program for the players on the Champions Tour. Early in his career, he married an American woman and has lived in Florida ever since. Not long after Bernhard had been playing on the regular Tour, some of the members of the PGA Tour Bible Study challenged him to explore is faith as a nominal Catholic. Bernhard began attending weekly Study services and committed his life to believing in, and serving, Jesus. Since he also participated part time on the European PGA Tour, he started a Christian group on that Tour modeled after the PGA Tour Bible Study. Bernhard oftentimes speaks at organized events and churches where he tells about his spiritual journey in becoming a devoted Christian.
