Dear Gun Nuts,
I wanted to take a moment and clear the air. Under normal circumstances, I’d be a spirit at eternal rest. However, I have business to attend to. You see, I am one of the many victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High shooting.
Let me say this explicitly so you may all understand: I am not a crisis actor.
There’s been unsubstantiated rumors some of my friends who escaped the most recent mass shooting in Florida are paid professionals. In the wild and wacky world of conspiracy nuts (need I mention conspiracy nuts and gun nuts share a lot of area on a Venn Diagram?), there is a belief that students who are speaking out against the NRA are paid actors.
Although I can’t speak for all of the dead Marjory Stoneman Douglas High pupils, I can confidently say I am not being paid by George Soros to be dead. My death is the logical consequence of adults behaving badly and not doing their jobs in protecting children.
I know, it’s very South Park.
You may think it strange I’m writing you this letter. However, please consider NRA board member Ted Nugent spreading deception concerning survivors of the shooting:
In a February 20 Facebook post, less than a week after the shooting, Nugent shared a February 19 Natural News article claiming “these kids were coached to repeat scripted lines, just like actors reading lines for a movie production.” The article claims that “It’s all scripted, in other words, to push a gun control narrative rooted in emotional reaction rather than constructive solutions” and includes the tags “false-flag” and “hoax.” The bulk of the article is a reprint of Lucian Wintrich’s post at The Gateway Pundit, which first started spreading the conspiracy theory.
I’d be remiss not pointing out the charge leveled against student survivor David Hogg. The accusation, of course, is that Mr. Hogg is a paid crisis actor.
Conspiracy theorists online have accused the survivors of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High of being paid actors who travel between the sites of mass shootings.
An aide to a Republican state representative has been fired for repeating the unsubstantiated claims.
In a healthy society, the dead do not have to tell the living that they aren’t getting paid off to be dead. We are not living in a healthy community.Once again. I am 100% dead. AND I am not a dead crisis actor.
Thank you for time.
