John Oliver’s Gay Rabbit Takes On Mike Pence

Comedian John Oliver has a new kids’ book out about a gay rabbit, and the butt of the joke is Vice President Mike Pence. BBC News ran the story Marlon Bundo: John Oliver lampoons Mike Pence with LGBT book. CNN also ran the story about Oliver’s newest tome with John Oliver is trolling Pence with a book about a gay bunny.

I’m not going to lie to you, Disbelievers. I like the word lampoon better than troll. The word troll could mean sending someone unwanted porn pics on Twitter. Lampooning suggests a bit more thought and perhaps a bit more art.

But I digress. Let’s get on with the BBC News piece.

“My name is Marlon, but my family calls me BOTUS. It’s short for Bunny of the United States.”

These are the words of Marlon Bundo, a pet rabbit belonging to Vice-President Mike Pence – or at least, these are his words according to a children’s book presented by Last Week Tonight presenter John Oliver in a bid to rival Pence’s own book about the bunny.

Oliver’s book of a happy bunny marrying another bunny of the same sex makes fun of Mike Pence’s long history of hating on the gays.

The original book, Marlon Bundo’s A Day in the Life of the Vice President, was written by Mr Pence’s daughter Charlotte and illustrated by his wife Karen. It tells the story of the VP through the eyes of his family’s rabbit.

I suggest the bunny in Pence’s book should try to escape immediately. After all, the LORD gave dominion over the Earth and bunnies to man. That means Mike Pence could make the rabbit be the spokesanimal for the NRA.

Here is John Oliver discussing Vice President Pence and Marlon Bundo.
