This Is Not Goodbye. But It is… See You Elsewhere!

This Is Not Goodbye. But It is… See You Elsewhere! June 24, 2015

IMG_7139Attention, Looking Closer readers: This blog is moving.

Three years ago, almost to the day — July 1, 2012 — I crossed the great Internet Sea carrying many years of Looking Closer blog content in my cargo hold, and I docked long-term here at the Patheos network. Today, I am pulling up the anchor and setting sail again for a new location.

If you don’t want to fall overboard, jot these two addresses down and we’ll all arrive safely at our next destination: LookingCloser.org and JeffreyOverstreet.com.

Either of those will redirect you to my new home when I arrive there. I can’t say yet when that will be. Hopefully it’ll be ready to welcome guests soon.

In the meantime, if you want to keep in touch with me during the voyage  — and I hope you will, because I’d love to keep you posted about the exciting new things I plan to do at my next Looking Closer home — follow one, two, or all three of these simple steps:

1. Follow me on Facebook. I’ll continue to blog, during the crossing, at http://facebook.com/jeffreyoverstreethq.

2. Follow me on Twitter. For obvious reasons, I’m at http://twitter.com/overstweet. (Be sure to spell that carefully.)

3. Join a brand-new Looking Closer email list. For occasional updates, send a request to joverstreet@gmail.com and write “SIGN ME UP” in the subject line. I promise that I will preserve that mailing list only for myself; I won’t sell it or give it away.

4. Want to hang out in person? I’ll be at The Glen Workshop this summer in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and I’ll be at Hutchmoot in Nashville in October.

Don’t worry. The professionals at Patheos have assured me that my cargo will be safely delivered to its new destination.

In the meantime, I will continue to write my weekly music column, “Listening Closer,” over at Christ and Pop Culture.

And I’m already at work building a sort of celebration of new content and features for the next manifestation. Those who become Looking Closer Specialists by contributing to the construction of the next Looking Closer will get sneak previews and other surprises. In fact, they’re already “in the loop” in a private Facebook group. Become one of those backstage-pass readers here.

Thanks to former Patheos people Timothy Dalrymple and Rebecca Cusey who invested in setting up this version of the blog and answering a zillion questions. Thanks to Nancy French for her editorial support in recent months.

Thank you again, readers, for making this a lively time full of learning experiences. I hope to apply what I’ve learned effectively at the next stop. I can’t wait to dock this boat and welcome you aboard. We’ll watch movies. We’ll listen to music. We’ll discuss literature. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll make some original art of our own together.

Until next time, grace and peace to you all.
