What the world needs now … from Michael Moore and the rest of us

Hooray for David Poland for saying what so desperately needs to be said, over there at The Hot Button. I resonate with his words about divisive behavior on both sides of the political fence, about Michael Moore, and about a need for more respect from each side for the other.I'm really sorry I missed this episode of the Bill Maher show now that I hear about THIS happening... I have been in a bit of a death match with Michael Moore in this column, on the site and on the blog over the last … [Read more...]

Number of Deceits in F9/11 Climbs to 59…

...according to this Web site.Note the convenient, free, downloadable PDF version at the top of the page.Note #59... that Moore is happy to cooperate with terrorist organizations who want to promote his film.Even if only half of these stand up to scrutiny, it's hard to believe that this is the behavior of the guy who went on Bill O'Reilly's show, and called Bush a liar, then defined "liar" as someone who reports false information even if they believe what they're saying is … [Read more...]

The Clearing, and More Moore De-bunkers.

Last night, I caught a screening of The Clearing , which stars three of my favorites: Robert Redford, Helen Mirren, and Willem Dafoe. It starts out like a thriller, but it is far from thrilling.Pieter Jan Brugge’s directorial debut is watchable only for its talented cast, a trio of formidable actors who make you wonder what drew them to this particular script. It’s a kidnapping yarn that raises a lot of interesting questions and suggests myriad possibilities for conspiracy and surprise, only … [Read more...]

CT Movies Gets Buried in Pro-F9/11 Mail

I'm already anxious to be done talking about this movie, but this is worthy of note. CT Movies has been swamped by a tidal wave of mail ranting about Peter Chattaway's review of F9/11. … [Read more...]

My review of Fahrenheit 9/11… finally.

Okay, I give up.I've spent more time on this review than any other review save The Passion of the Christ. It's been a challenge. And I'm considering my posted review a work-in-progress, as there are so many nit-picky reviews of this movie out there. I don't want to be merely redundant when it comes to the factuality (or non-factuality) of the movie. I want to focus on the spirit of the whole affair... what it is, and what it could have been. So, let me know what you think, in comments or … [Read more...]

My First Impression of Fahrenheit 9/11

I haven't even begun to organize my thoughts on Fahrenheit 9/11, but when I read this blog entry I found myself saying, Yep. Yep. Yep.This guy's thoughts parallel my own experience from last night's screening in Seattle, except that he was able to translate them eloquently into writing whereas it will take me a week to bring my emotions under control enough to write coherent thoughts about this film. But anyway... off the top of my head... here are some initial (and yes, emotional) … [Read more...]
