According to MADD, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, someone is killed by a drunk driver every 40 seconds! Every 40 frikin seconds! I have had 2 people very, very close to me get killed my drunk drivers. And today is the 14th anniversary of my mentor, Jeff Still, getting killed by a drunk nurse who hit him head on because she crossed over the median, when I was 15 years old. He was not killed instantly and suffered a very painful... Read more

What is My One Sentence Bible? 2-25-10: God told us to not love him just ‘for show’. What are you ‘fronting’ in your life to others that you still praise God publicly for? Hosea 9:1-2 Not too sure I understand why people blame God when they reject God first? Anyone can make an excuse. Hosea 9:17 Haunting: “My people are determined to turn from Me.” ~God // Don’t let that person be you! Hosea 11:7 Much love. www.themarinfoundation.org Read more

This morning I was reading the paper on the way to work and the cover story was about the heroin problem emerging on the West Side of Chicago. You can read it here. Towards the end I read the following at it broke my heart into pieces: “The Rev. Walter Arthur McCray, 58, who has lived in the same house at Francisco and Wilcox since he was a boy, said he has seen the change in his neighborhood. McCray, a... Read more

In a recent post I asked you to ask me anything you were wondering. You can see it here. So far there are 12 questions, with a few others I’ve complied from previous posts. From here on out I am going to start chipping away at them once a week. The first question was asked by Dave Foreman: How you approach the hatred of “ex-gays” by many in the GLBT community? I certainly don’t buy into much of what those... Read more

What is My One Sentence Bible? 2-24-10: Stubborn folks always expect God to give them the way. How can God do that without an open heart? Hosea 4:16 God doesn’t desire your sacrifice or what you think you offer, or “give up” for Him. God desires your mercy and longing reverence. Hosea 6:6 You want to talk to me about sin? How about the greatest of them all: Turning your back on, and forgetting your Maker and all your Maker... Read more

This is just amazing! I just found out that Love is an Orientation just won its 5th national book award. Outreach Magazine gave Love is an Orientation their Culture Award for the Outreach Resources of the Year. You can see the release here. As I was writing this book during May and June of 2008, I earnestly prayed that each and every sentence would be given by the Lord, and used for God’s ultimate purposes in everyone’s life who reads... Read more

Just a fun piece of randomness that is totally exaggerated in the title, but recent Men’s Figure Skating Gold Medal winner Evan Lysacek graduated from Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, IL – the same high school my dad works at; and the rival high school to Waubonsie Valley High School where I attended. Go Evan! Go Naperville! 🙂 Much love. www.themarinfoundation.org Read more

Over the next 2 days I will be speaking seven times at the University of Illinois to everyone from campus Christian groups, gay groups, youth groups, city-wide pastors and a general session open to the public. They’ve packed my schedule from 12-9pm on Thursday and from 7am-9pm on Friday! Your prayers for strength (especially since I’m just getting over being pretty sick) and a clear mind are quite welcome. Let’s see the Lord continue to do some crazy stuff on this... Read more

I recently got a call from The Frank Pastore Show, America’s most listened to Christian radio program, asking if I would be a regular monthly guest. Of course I said yes! I will be live on the air tonight from 6:30-7:30pm CST. You can listen live here. I seriously love Frank, his point of view and how he ‘gets’ this bridge building work. I’m truly humbled to be a part of their show. I hope you get a chance to... Read more
