Purity Rings: An Invitation for Stories

I've been thinking lately about my purity ring. My dad gave it to me on my thirteenth birthday, and I still have it tucked away. I have a lot of strong feelings about it, weird though that may seem. There's a lot of my girlhood wrapped up in it, years of idealism and dreams. There's pain in it too, and heartbreak and fear. But you know what? I don't think I'm the only one to have strong feelings about my purity ring. And so, I'd like to start a new series. The "Purity Rings" series. If you … [Read more...]

Introductions

After a post a few weeks ago turned into a sort of impromptu space for introductions, I thought it might be a good idea to set up an official "Introductions" post, especially for those of you who comment frequently. Your background 3. Your current beliefs 4. A bit about you 5. What brings you to Love, … [Read more...]

Blog Housekeeping

First, I've just learned that when someone reads my blog in a reader (or on a smartphone), it isn't counted as page views. And, well, getting page views is how I get paid for blogging. So if you read my blog on a reader - and I totally understand if you do, I use a reader too - it would be awesome if you would come to my actual blog site every couple of days and click through some posts just to ensure that your reading counts.Second, I've made a few changes to my blog's look and organized … [Read more...]

You've all probably noticed that I link to Sierra's blog, The Phoenix and the Olive Branch, quite frequently. While I didn't know her before entering the blogging world, Sierra is more than just a fellow blogger to me. She's a friend. We've emailed back and forth, we're facebook friends, and we've actually met in real life. And on top of that, our current career paths are about as similar as our backgrounds. Well, Sierra's asking her readers for a helping hand, and I thought I'd bring her need … [Read more...]

More Raised Quiverfull Posts Coming

I'm going to post two more Raised Quiverfull stories in the next two weeks: Skarlet's story and Anne's story. Each story will be posted individually, with each of the nine sections of questions as an individual post. One thing I have found interesting about the Raised Quiverfull Project is how individual the experiences are - and how different. Some stories, like Joe's, have parents who would have been abusive inside or outside of the Christian Patriarchy and Quiverfull movements. Other … [Read more...]
