Male, Female, and ‘X’ – Now Legal Options in Some States As Science Deniers Affect Drivers Licenses

Male, Female, and ‘X’ – Now Legal Options in Some States As Science Deniers Affect Drivers Licenses June 23, 2017

In some states in the nation, the science deniers apparently have more sway over lawmakers than others. For example:

California’s Senate passed a bill to allow the state’s residents to change their gender identity on their birth certificates and state IDs, including driver’s licenses, to “female, male, or non-binary.” The bill is currently awaiting a vote in the state Assembly.

But don’t get too cocky, California.  New York and the District of Columbia have similar legislation… and in Oregon gender X is now a legal option on ID’s:

NBC reports:

Oregon became the first state in U.S. history on Thursday to offer more than two gender options on identity documents, including driver’s licenses, making it the first to legally recognize non-binary, intersex and agender people on ID cards.

When the history-making rule — which the state Transportation Commission passed late Thursday afternoon — goes into effect on July 3, Oregon residents will have the option to choose among three gender categories when applying for driver’s licenses or state ID cards: male, female and “X” for non-binary or unspecified.

Here’s what this might look like:

The problem with this — actually just problem of many — is that this is straight up science denial.  Liberals like to pretend that they belong to the rational, intellectual party and paint conservatives as people who believe in nefarious fantasy.  But that was all before 2017. Now, liberals are firmly in the camp of anti-science fantasy while conservatives are left scratching our heads saying, “really?”
