The Great Matrix Debate Continues!

A reader tells me the Evangelicals are on the case, and they get it!

Here’s the PDF version, which is good because it’s well worth reading in full:

He adds:

It’s done by an evangelical group, and boy, have they broken it down in detail. They’ve seen it a few times….I think they frequently overstate the case, but at least they do acknowledge that (1) the parallels are often incomplete or hazy, and (2) sometimes Eastern religions are a better fit to explain aspects of the story. Still, I think the essay convincingly demonstrates the Christian structure of the story. Favorite overlooked Christian reference in the film: the ship operated by Morpheus, the Nebuchadnezzar, has a plate engraved with the date and manufacture of the ship. The plate also indicates that it is a “Mk. III, 11″, which Neo prominently walks past. Hmmm….

Also, the film was released Easter weekend, but perhaps that’s too obvious.

Mark 3:11 says: “And whenever the unclean spirits beheld him, they fell down before him and cried out, ‘You are the Son of God.’”

Don’t think that’s an accident. There isn’t a frame of film in that movie left to chance.
