Screwtape explains it all for you!

Greg Krehbiel marvels

Call me a sexist. Call me a Neanderthal. I really don’t care. But in my opinion, the last thing the Catholic Church needs right now is a push to get women more involved in the parish, which is what the American bishops are doing. (I have never seen any harmony between my priorities and the priorities of the American bishops.)

Go into a Catholic Church and look around. How many men do you see? Now go to a committee meeting and look again. You’ll see the same thing. Women run the church. It’s not that I’m against women on committees or having an input in church life. In fact, I think that’s very important. But the crisis in the Catholic Church today is a lack of male leadership. Yeah, sure all the bishops and priests are men. I didn’t say there is a lack of males in leadership positions, I said there is a lack of male leadership — in the parish and in the home.

Catholic fathers are AWOL. They don’t go to worship and they don’t lead their families. So what do the bishops do? They emphasize female leadership.

“We direct the fashionable outcry of each generation against those vices of which it is least in danger and fix its approval on the virtue nearest to that vice we are trying to make endemic. The game is to have them all running about with fire extinguishers whenever there is a flood, and all crowding to that side of the boat which is already nearly gunwale under.” – His Abysmal Undersecretary Screwtape
