MSNBC accidently allows criticism of God King

The author of a book on Bonhoeffer, who knows a thing or two about what state tyranny over the Church looks like, warns that the Obama Administration is tyrannizing the Church:

Best part: MSNBC interviewer, after being informed that Obama’s tyrannical acts mirror the early acts of tyranny in Nazi Germany, wonders not “Is this bad for America?” but “Will this give the GOP an advantage?”

If you are wondering how factionalism and party spirit can destroy our understanding of the common good (and ultimately a people) look no further than that question.

Bravo for this guy’s comments. Usually when one raises the Nazi analogy, people tune out (me too) but he is accurate in this comparison with the early years of Nazi rule. I cannot judge the interviewer’s reaction since the clip cut off just after she spoke her first sentence. Another minute or two on the clip might have made her bent clearer although you are correct that everything these days has been made a partisan issue or so it seems.

    Ha. Best part, indeed.

  3. Sandra Miesel says:

Last night’s NBC evening news used the headline “Church Politics”, opening with shots of a cathedral Mass and including a brief soundbite from AB Dolan. But they pointedly made this a Catholic doctrinal issue, not a violation of religious freedom. Their earlier coverage of the Komen controversy was disgracefully biased.
Today’s WSJ lead editorial does “get it”, though.

Eric Metaxas was the speaker prior to President Obama at the recent National Prayer Breakfast. I thought it was a very good talk. Here’s the link to the talk given by Eric Metaxas at the prayer breakfast for those who are interested. He talks about authentic faith as opposed to dead religion.

I think the reporter totally missed his point.

    • Joseph says:

Actually, on second thought, I don’t think the reporter missed the point. I think we did. I think the reporter is dead on. This is a political game. It will get repealed so the whether or not it signals tyranny is irrelevant. How will it effect voters is what’s on the reporter’s mind.

I may have mocked the reporter too early.

  6. Richard Johnson says:

The reporter actually nails it on the head. Far too many will view this as a reason to support the Republican nominee, a nominee of a party that is every bit as tyrannical as the Democrats.

As has been said on this blog many times, it is not a partisan issue. It is not a Democrat v. Republican issue. It is a ruling class v. the rest of us issue.

Listen, listen LISTEN to the Metaxis Prayer Breakfast speech!! I listened last night and am so hopeful. Here is a Christian man who gets it.

  8. Dennis Mahon says:

First they came for the communists,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Jew.

Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak out because I was Protestant.

    Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

  10. Archangel says:

We must try to stop sinners from bearing more sin into this world. They have not found our Faith yet, so continue engaging in lustful activities rather than promoting love and God’s laws. I am tired of supporting these sinners with taxes that go toward curing the ills their lust causes, and paying to imprison the sinful, disease-ridden, drug-addicted adults their children become.
Therefore, I would rather pay for these sinners not to have children now as opposed to paying to support them and the sinful children they bear later. We must stand together and encourage Obama to stop these ungodly sinners who cannot control their loins from creating more sinners. http://snap3.uas.mx/RECURSO1/unfpa/data/docs/unpf0096.pdf If we don’t pay now, we will pay more later for the increase in crimes sinful children of sinners commit-our world will become even more dangerous for us. It is Catholic to sacrifice a little now to improve the safety of all, and now is our time.

    • RobP says:

Absolutely right, Archangel. Let’s not let anyone be born into this world that, after our evalution, we believe may turn out to be a bad person. Since we know there’s no such thing as repentance and conversion, and since we know that life is only good if it’s filled with the blessings of material goods and safety from “sinful, disease-ridden” adults, we should kill these people before they have the chance to take MY MONEY!!! After all, it is a baby’s fault that his parents are morons, so the baby should have to suffer for the sins of the parents. As a friend of mine used to say, and now I say to you, I think there’s some feces in your thesis.
