Nice to see!

Anybody is capable of repentance and penance, even a member of our Ruling Class:

Rep. Jones, of “Freedom Fries” infamy, has made a fine penance of renouncing his former support for wars of choice, writing a personal condolence letter to the family of every serviceman killed, has now introduced a noble bill in congress:

Rep. Walter Jones has introduced H. Con. Res. 107, “Expressing the sense of Congress that the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress
constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution”:

Whereas the cornerstone of the Republic is honoring Congress’s exclusive power to declare war under article I, section 8, clause 11 of the Constitution: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That it is the sense of Congress that, except in response to an actual or imminent attack against the territory of the United States, the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress violates Congress’s exclusive power to declare war under article I, section 8, clause 11 of the Constitution and therefore constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution.

Very nice to see this. Wars have always been the province of progressive thinkers (e.g. the Left). All the social programs that self-proclaimed progressives shove down the throats of the American people will be the justification for endless wars against nations that prefer tradition rather than progressive ideology. There will never be an end to this. I am writing now to thank Rep. Walter Jones.

Yes, Food Stamps and Social Security have dragged the U.S. into far too many wars. By the way, are you drunk?

What the Puck are ye yakking about?

Turn down Rushbo, Hannity & Mark Levin. They are turning your brain to mush. Nonsense is nonsense no matter how often you repeat it.

  • I Won

    I smell a presidential veto.

Like Tyrant Obama even cares about Congress or the Constitution anyway.

Think this will get anywhere? I think not….I don’t even trust the so-called neo-coms of the GOP to go along with it.

  • Mark S (not for Shea)

Wow. As Mr. Shea often says, “More like this please!”

Presidents don’t get to veto Congressional resolutions. But no matter, it won’t pass the House, let alone be considered in the Senate. But as a gesture, it’s welcome.

Jones’s repudiation of Empire – as represented by this modest, obvious, & eminently sane resolution – isn’t new, & took hold during the Bush Administration; so it isn’t partisan either.

As he’s a North Carolina Congressman whose been steadily & seriously targeted by wealthy neocon apparats – but not yet successfully – immediately upon (as they’d call it) his apostasy, it would appear he is one of those rarities of the governing class: an actual patriot.
