From the Annals of Chutzpah

John “Crushing a Child’s Testicle is Not Necessarily Wrong When the President Orders it” Yoo complains that Obama is only murdering people but not torturing them. In addition, to shamelessly invoking St. Thomas with brazen chutzpah and lyingly claiming that just war doctrine is about broadening, not limiting war, he also repeats the bald-faced and self-serving GOP lie that torture helped get Osama, when in fact it hindered our search for him. Of course, the link documenting this is only written by an actual interrogator and not some disgusting political functionary covering his derriere, so you can’t trust it. John Yoo is an honorable public servant. Matthew Alexander is just a soldier who put his ass on the line and maintained his honor in the face of stupid and criminal policies ordered by stupid and criminal draft-dodging pols.

And just think, men every bit as odious as Yoo will be back in the White House next January, ready to use the new powers for infinite detainment and murder of citizens without trial our Ruling Classes have granted themselves and our God King has assiduously cultivated.

Cassel: If the President deems that he’s got to torture somebody, including by crushing the testicles of the person’s child, there is no law that can stop him?
Yoo: No treaty.
Cassel: Also no law by Congress. That is what you wrote in the August 2002 memo.
Yoo: I think it depends on why the President thinks he needs to do that.

Funniest part: The “Faithful Conservative Catholics” who defended creeps like this and arguments like theirs when it was the Bushies making them have railed for nearly four years about them damn libruls and their dictatorship of relativism.

The choice is between either the Baby Killing Party or the Crush Kids’ Testicles Party.

But if you don’t vote for the Crush Kids’ Testicles guy, the Baby Killing Party guy will win! Erm, that is, if you don’t vote for the Baby Killing Party guy, the Crush Kids’ Testicles guy will win! Wait, no that’s not right … erm … umm …

I thought the argument was “The Don’t Commit Grave Sin Party can’t win, so any vote for them is a vote for the Baby Killing Party”

All snark aside, let’s be serious as the case warrants. Mark’s contention (shared by many including myself) is that there is no two parties but one single Ruling Party that is made of two wings. There is difference but where it lands varies depending on who you talk with….

If this is really so…. then simply refraining from voting won’t make a bit of difference to the social outcome of ….increasingly tyrannical behavior via bureaucracy while the police state beefs up its means of perpetual control….right up to the brink of national collapse into either civil war or outside global war.

Given the power of the Ruling class (Federal Reserve – all the money in the world + Federal Government – all the power in the world), there is no hope for a peaceful political/electoral victory and zero hope for military uprising. All that can be accomplished is mitigation of local harm and a long term sequestering of some sort of civilizational “seed corn” ala the education and moral formation of our children. Imagine we’re Soviet citizens somewhere in Ukraine circa 1964…. we might have another 25 years of suffering under the current system and then 10 years beyond that of national collapse/anarchy…

But that’s a bummer to plan for. So I suppose it’s much cooler to spend our time focusing on who’s to blame (not that we can arrest/try/incarcerate them), or what strategy employed by which faction in foreign and domestic affairs was good/bad/evil….. (not that we can do anything about it either way). So let the topic be torture and what’s the practical effect of making anything the other side does “torture”? Are we thinking that maybe the UN will come in to rescue us from torturers? Or that some Libertarian Party will magically rise up in 2016 to outflank both the GOP/DNC in the teeth of all the dirty tricks/counter-spending in the world?

Leviathan is impressive. Not invincible to be sure, but definitely invincible coming from the predictable avenues of approach. If you guys are serious about your analysis then the plan…. the plan has to be much more seriously about safeguarding the next generation and their children…. because it won’t be our generation’s lot to see the status quo vanquished.

Exactly why I joined Knights of Columbus, and yet follow the advice I learned from the Mormons growing up and keep a pantry of about 2 years worth of food (which I sometimes give away, or when the mood strikes, use for ingredients, but immediately replace).

My next birthday I’m going to ask for a GoFoods Grab-N-Go kit so that with 15 minutes prep time, my family and I can leave for two weeks or more. And I’ll leave that hidden in the bowels of my tent trailer.
