Today Beginneth…

the Fortnight for Freedom.

Just say no to State Tyranny and our God King. May the HHS Mandate go to hell. We cannot and will not comply.

Plus, “fortnight” is a cool word!

“Plus, “fortnight” is a cool word!”

I wondered where the US bishops got their English syntax from? Just alliterates well, I suppose.

I forgot about that in my previous post. Must be the feast of St. John Fisher- though why would the Estonians make such a big party out of a feast of an English Saint?

Being from across the pond, I only realised recently that ‘fortnight’ wasn’t used much in American English.

I think the word was probably really familiar to the Founding Fathers, which may be why the Bishops used it. Don’t forget too that the President of the USCCB, Cardinal Dolan, has a doctorate in American Church history. You learn a lot of the language of different time periods studying history (as I know by experience), so I wouldn’t be surprised if he had his input into the title.

A fortnight is just two sennights! Any reader of Patrick O’Brian (from whose books Master and Commander was constructed) knows that.

I am so happy we started off with prayer and the rosary. This is, indeed, a very good strategy to defeat this ugly abuse of power. Dying He destroyed my death, rising He restored my life.
