Just to show there’s no hard feelings about the Revolution…

Let me recommend the excellent Stratford Caldecott’s typically excellent new book, Beauty in the Word:

Stratford, though a subject of Her Royal Majesty Elizabeth II, is nonetheless kindly disposed to his Yankee cousins and was one of the best parts of a magnificent post-conference banquet held by the American Chesterton Society in Minneapolis/St. Paul in 2005. To hear him tell a joke about Heisenberg being pulled over for speeding is a transcendent experience. Buy his book. He’s great!
Plus, Tony Esolen writes the foreword!

  • Please… some Yankees are subjects of Her Majesty. The revolution was really a civil war and the Americans on the losing side settled in Upper Canada… just as I did two centuries later.

  • Thanks so much for posting, Mark! Hope your holiday tomorrow is fun and fruitful!
