Rich People Steamrolling Poor…

with “Just enough of me.  Way too Much of You!” standard Rich People Agenda.  Austin Ruse writes:

In just a few weeks billionaire Melinda Gates is hosting a Family Planning Summit in London. She is doing this with the largest abortion providers and promoters in the world, the UN Population Fund and International Planned Parenthood Federation.

They say they want to raise $4 billion to promote contraception among poor women. This is population control plain and simple, population control aimed at poor dark-skinned women.

We have tried to get pro-lifers registered for this summit so there can be a counter voice…..

BUT WE ARE BEING SHUT OUT BY PLANNED PARENTHOOD!

Even though our voices will be shut out, we will not be silenced.

I ask you to read the OPEN LETTER TO MELINDA GATES and if you agree that this is a dangerous conference and if you agree that pro-lifers should not be shut out, sign the letter!

We hope to gather 100,000 signatures from all over the world and we will hand deliver them to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation headquarters in Seattle, Washington and/or directly on the steps of the Family Planning Summit in London on July 11th!

BUT WE HAVE ONLY NINE DAYS TO DO IT. PLEASE ACT NOW!

Please read the OPEN LETTER TO MELINDA GATES, sign it, and then send this email to everyone in your address book. The only way this will be effective is if this email and this petition go viral all over the Internet.

So, help us say NO to Melinda Gates. No abortion. No abortion groups. No coerced family planning.

Sign the OPEN LETTER TO MELINDA GATES and send this email to all of your family and friends, TO YOUR ENTIRE ADDRESS BOOK.

We will deliver all signatures to Melinda Gates office in three weeks!

Yours sincerely,

Austin Ruse

I have just signed, and I have copied this post in order to forward it to my network.

Colbert just interviewed Melinda Gates and told her she was endangering her soul.

    • David

Colbert wasn’t admonishing the sinner, he was mocking the Church. The whole exchange was pretty sickening.

I am not optimistic about a conference like this being open to prolife points of view, even with a viral internet petition and the calls to boycott Microsoft that will inevitably follow. Our efforts would be better spent pouring as much funding and messaging skills into reaching poor women around the world as Planned Parenthood and the Gates Foundation does, only with a message of life. We need missionaries, not picketers. Efforts like this spend a lot of energy talking to the wrong people.

    • Ted Seeber

I have a tendency to agree. Just think what we could do if we simply matched donations to unwed mother’s homes and emergency pregnancy resource clinics equal to the budget of Planned Parenthood or the Gates Foundation.

Oh wait, due to hoarding in the 1%, we don’t have the money left in the 99% to do that.

    • Bill

We need BOTH missionaries and picketers…the TRUTH has to be promoted and defended whether one is speaking to the choir (quasi) or to the enemy of the Truth…

I wonder if Mrs. Melinda Gates has ever seen a video of an abortion being performed. I wonder if that would change her mind. Most people who support abortion have never actually seen it being performed. Maybe someone should send her one.

As someone who used to consider herself “pro-choice,” I have to say that doing this will probably have little to no positive effect. Although not quite the same thing, there is some pro-life group in my city that stands on street corners a few times a year and display pictures of aborted babies. I used to drive by them and think, “Wow, they’re saying life is sacred, but they sure don’t mind just showing these gruesome images to people who happen to be driving on their way to work.” They felt like snuff films to me. I was much more moved by rational discussion and verbal testimony – and my own pregnancy and subsequent birth of my son(and probably some people praying for my conversion).

I think images and video depicting abortion may have their use but I’m not sure this is it.

    Mark,

My folks are going though it is clear we are not getting in. We are going to keep the Open Letter going until we get upwards of 100,000 signatures and then we are going to present them in the lobby of the Gates Foundation. I am sure you will want to be there…

    Thanks for the publicity.

    Best,

    Austin

I am getting tired of this meme.

Bracket the abortion issue for a moment. In many Third World countries, the Catholic bishops support teaching of NFP as a way of reducing overpopulation. See, for example, The Philippines: http://tinyurl.com/8xcyjsq.

Is this also motivated by a belief that they think there are too many brown people?

Is Christopher West impelled by a desire to “cull the human herd”?

If your primary objection is to the means employed, why throw in ad hominem imputations about the other side’s ‘real” ends or motives? Is this any more constructive than “the Catholic Church opposes birth control because it wants to keep women barefoot, pregnant and producing more and more future Catholic voters”?

  • Tom R

PS: And yes, true, it’s easier to impose abortion and sterilisation coercively on a population than it is to make them practise NFP (one-off visitations by officials instead of cameras in every bedroom…?). So if consent if one’s criterion of the good, NFP has that advantage. However, it’s not hard to imagine carrots that a government could use instead of sticks to “persuade” people to reduce their number of children, using whatever methods are at hand. Again: If one’s objection is to coercion, and/or to homicide, focus on that. Snide insinuations that “you have to have a coercive or homicidal mindset to believe that a particular territory contains, or will soon contain, more people than it has resources to support” don’t get anywhere.
