It’s funny because it’s true

Boy, that leaves the Charismatics in the Catholic church in an odd place on the graph.

I wa curious to see the images on the long diagonal, those supposedly of how the different denominations see themselves.

I was somewhat surprised to see that, as a Catholic, I recognized every image as being noticably Catholic. Then upon further reflection, I realized I should not be so surprised.

I would be very curious for those in other denominations to share how they view the long diagonal. I suspect the pope image will not come off as relevant to many others, but what about other comparisons?

Another interesting observation from this Catholic. I “got” every image in this matrix, -except- for the Evangelical and Charismatic as seen by… Catholics. I must have been home sick the day these stereotypes were taught. Yet I got all the rest [\shame].

I agree with you. I don’t understand either, esp. a Jackson Pollock painting representing charismatics.

The Evangelicals are stuck eating the scraps from our table.

The Charismatics are a bunch of non-sensical stuff intended to evoke emotion.

I am not endorsing either. I am not denying either. I am explaing what they mean in the context of the matrix itself.

I think the “Evangelicals as seen by Catholics” square is really funny.

What is that one? I looks like a dog but I don’t get the rest.

    Hey, where are the Orthodox?

    • http://hezekiahgarrett.wordpress.com Hezekiah Garrett

They’ll be along in about 2 weeks. Check back then.

We don’t even have a Patheos channel and you expect for us to show up on a matrix? Orthodox Christianity: the ninja religion.

Well that’s all the pitch I needed. I guess finding ya’ll is the first step to signing up?

As someone who used to belong to a Presbyterian Church of America congregation, I think the Reformed column is the funniest/most spot on. (And every one of the caricatures have a significant element of truth in them.)

  • Mark S. (not for Shea)

I didn’t get Charismatics as seen by Catholics either. Is that Jackson Pollack? It looks like 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 rubber bands as seen from space.
