  • A friend of mine who is an Illinois State Trooper said that there is no mutual combat law here in Illinois. Both men in the video (click the link) would have been arrested in Illinois.

    • I’m not sure why I wrote Illinois so many times. :-/

I imagine that it’s a vestige of the “Old West” period and mentality. Basically, if two people want to duel and aren’t going to harm others or their property, and the police give the go-ahead, it’s game on. It’s also what allows for sparring in martial arts studios and what-not.

Ben really needs to be careful, though, as things might ramp-up now and he has a wife and kids. Some punk might decide to take a shot at Phoenix Jones.

      Peace and God bless!

Over the last couple years Seattle Cops have been under intense scrutiny regarding their use of force. It has led them to intervene as little as possible. This is especially true in Belltown, one of Jones’ main haunts. The neighborhood is a virtual fishbowl. Everyone has a video camera on their phone, and there’s a good chance that anything done in public will end up on youtube and often times the news. Their absence is the vacuum filled partially by Jones and his fellow vigilantes.
