My uncle did this a few years back. It’s a lovely second act!

Our priest when we lived in Indy, Fr. Sid (Eternal Memory!), was a widower with an interesting back story. He was ordained as a priest for the Buzantine Catholic Eparchy of Parma in 2004 and died on the Vigil of the Assumption in 2012.

One of our local priests is similarly a widower, but also a retired Navy Captain (O-6), medical doctor, and father of seven. Tragically, he buried one of his (adult) daughters last year. A more stanch and articulate defender of the unborn you would be hard pressed to find.

We have a retired priest at our parish that’s married. Great guy, great homilist.

When I was going through RCID we had a married priest talk to us about marriage as a sacrament, which I thought was cool.

Can you imagine the interesting conversations their wives have had with strangers over the years?
