Prayer Request

A reader writes:

My family is being torn as of late. Our oldest has left the faith, still lives in our house, and his issues with Religion and the next steps of his life are making the lives of all of us unhappy to one degree or another. All our prayers, novenas and other, concrete attempts to heal familial wounds and bring him back to the truth have so far been for nought, and the other children are being affected. I don’t know where else to turn, and want God so much to touch our family again and make it whole. So, if you can, please pray for us. And if you can, put it out on your site, so others can pray for us too.

Father, help this family find the wisdom and love to heal the wounds and divisions that have occurred.  Give their children the grace of faith and bring them in peace to your altar through Christ our Lord.  Mother Mary, St. Monica, and St. Augustine, pray for them.

  • Just to say I prayed for this family. I once read a simplified study on the religious development of children, and sure enough, a teenager rebelling against his religious family and going his own way into the wilderness for a year or more is pretty typical. They tend to come back when they fall in love and are thinking about marriage and starting a family. Of course this is sad for his family, but there is always hope. I hope the family takes hope from the lives of St. Monica and St. Augustine. Never mind the live-in lover, St. Augustine rose pretty high in a non-Christian cult before he lost interest in them and met St. Ambrose.
