Though Bush never voted himself the power to secretly and unaccountable murder anybody in the world His Imperial Majesty decided to kill. It took His Royal Highness Obama I, Constitutional Scholar, to establish the principle that the President is a totally law-free murderer whenever he thinks you need to die. Strange how quiet the “anti-war” left is about that. If it were Bush there would (rightly) be impeachment proceedings.
A friend remarked about my comment above that she doubted “that all Democrats think he is Jesus.”
Granted, not *all* Dems think this (anymore). Not all Dems agree on anything. But Dems have rather a credibility issue here. I remember when neocons spent a large amount of time trying to pretend that “neocon” was a label invented by the enemies of neocons because they felt uncomfortable with the fact that neoconservatism was such a spectacular failure. It’s the same thing motivating the GOP to pretend W never existed. Problem was, they themselves had published things like “The Essential Neoconservative Reader” back when they were on the rise and you can order it at Amazon.
Rule of thumb: People who try to distance themselves by repenting their previous wrong ideas and actions are called “penitent”. It’s an honorable thing to do. People who try to distance themselves by denying they ever held their previous ideas are generally dishonorable liars, like neocons who pretend they were ever neocons and quiescent “anti-war” Obama supporters and adorers who pretend they never indulged in messianic crap about Obama. The fact is, Dems and the Left (and Obama, by the way) heavily indulged in blasphemous messianic crap about Obama. When Obama turned out to be another corporate tool and one who is rather uncomfortable with the democratic process when it gets in the way of his arrogant will, the people who indulged in this blasphemous crap did not say, “I was wrong. That was dumb. I repent.” Instead, like the neocons, they have largely tried to say that those of us who remember these antics are just making stuff up to make them look dumb and they never indulged in messianic delusions about him.
Problem is: the Internet is forever.
