A reader writes about the Ship of Fools board…

…which always makes me think of this Far Side cartoon:

Anyway, he writes:

I thought you and your readers might be interested in taking a look at this thread over at the Ship of Fools boards: The Roman Catholic Church 100 Years from Now. It’s interesting because a Chesterton quote starts off the thread and Chesterton gets cited 1 or 2 more times. It’s also interesting because of the direction people on the thread, mostly Non-Catholics, think the Church is going to take in the next century. It’s interesting to see what outsiders think. It seems like there’s a lot of wishful thinking, and a lot of common knowledge taken for granted in the Catholic blogosphere doesn’t look like it’s reached outsiders yet.

By the way, it would be nice if a lot more Catholics joined the boards. There aren’t a lot of practicing Catholics active on there but the Church comes up as a subject all of the time, like this other current thread or this archived one originally from the “Hell” board. The boards need Catholics the way Frodo thought the Shire needed an invasion of dragons.

Anyways, I thought you and your readers would get a kick out of reading the thread and seeing other people peer into the Church’s future. Thanks Mark, for everything you do!

I don’t have any time to be an invading dragon myself, but if you are looking for a shot at arguing with somebody, that looks like the place.
