Euphemism is the Language of Satan

“We’ve killed 4,700,” the lawmaker said. “Sometimes you hit innocent people, and I hate that, but we’re at war, and we’ve taken out some very senior members of al-Qaida.”

By “hit” innocent civilians what the senator actually means, in plain English, is “target“. And by “target” what he means is “murder”–with no accountability whatsoever.

God forgive all involved in these acts of lawless murder through Christ our Lord. Amen.

I am always amazed by the US military… they got ‘smart’ missiles that cost from several thousand to million dollars that could it the tail of a donkey miles away… and still mess it up by killing loads of civilians!

I remember a few years ago in Afghanistan they bombed a wedding party by mistake (Deh Bala wedding party airstrike)… and tried to cover it up.

Really, how daft can you be?!

    • Stu

What experience do you have with combat?

      • Dan

This combat is less combat than targeted striking. A wedding party. Good grief, non-combatant children, elderly, and women… good grief. Other strikes against funerals and gatherings by non-combatants and the uninvolved. This is just depressing.

Well, it is not really new. I remember a story from the past (although it is only hearsay, I was only 3 when that war ended): I heard that during WWII, the safest place to be when US air force was doing a bombing was… the target!

Cynical, but somewhat true. There is the time some American bomber crews got confused and bombed Zurich.

This reminded me of something Mitt Romney said to the President during one of the debates, “We can’t kill our way out of this”.

  • Mark S. (not for Shea)

And for every terrorist we kill in this fashion, 50 more sign up. Can you blame them?

If your state police grenaded your kid’s birthday party because they had intelligence that a local crime lord was in attendence, wouldn’t you sign up for the resistance? If you wouldn’t at least be tempted, then you have utterly lost all sense of justice.

Drones are another example of why we have failed in Afghanistan. 12 years? Its like being part of a huge gang fight; just constant fighting…no plan leads to death.
