Prayer Request

A reader writes:

Please keep my nephew Michael in prayer. He has been hosptialized with a gunshot wound to the head. He’s stabilizing but still very critical. Prayer for healing and for his family and for the doctors will be greatly appreciated.

Father, hear our prayer for Michael’s complete healing in body, soul, mind, and spirit. Grant grace, compassion, knowledge, and skill to his caregivers and grace, mercy, peace, and strength to all who live him. Mother Mary and St. Luke, pray for them. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!

Thank you so much for your prayers. Michael now has pneumonia and the pressure on his brain keeps going up and down, and he is in a drug-induced coma at this time. Right now the brain pressure (measures swelling of the brain I’m told) is good, but sometimes it spikes into dangerous levels. The fluid around his brain that is being shunted to help with that pressure is becoming less bloody, which means the bleeding is less. One miracle is that the CAT scan shows the bullet entered his brain and went high up and over the crucial core of his brain, missing his thalamus, and then exiting on the other side as if it has been going in a straight line. The doctors treating him were astonished as they had never seen such a thing before and could only say, “Someone up there likes this kid’ (Michael is 14)

My niece is also suffering horribly – rumors at her high school are that SHE tried to kill him one of the. She is having serious problems psychologically right now, her name is Patty. She is trying to be strong for her parents. She will have some time with a therapist on Tuesday, which I hope helps her. She’s a beautiful and loving young lady. Thank you for posting this and thank you, who prays for my brother’s family.

So sorry about your niece! Rumors and gossip are such ugly, ugly things (as our Holy Father Francis actually talked about last week!) Praying for her as well.
