    “Was that the Hobbit?”

“That, my lads, was Peter Jackson.”

    • Chesire11

…and Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh are hopelessly superficial, adolescent makers of loud movies.

  • Dave G.

Eh. Even my boys, children of the digital age that they are, were under-impressed by the first go around. We’ll have to see.

  • Mark S. (not for Shea)

Try as I might, I just can’t work up an ounce of enthusiasm for this movie. CGI overload. Too prone too goofiness. I really, really keep trying to like the dwarves but just can’t. It’s almost as if Jackson unlearned everything he did right in the LotR films.

    • Chesire11

He did something right in LotR? I managed to watch the first one, but walked out on the second.

  • Rebecca Duncan

UGH!! I HATED the first one! And this looks even worse if that’s possible. Now Legolas is in it?!? These movies are like the anti – Lord of the Rings. Bilbo was barely in the trailer…he’s the only part of the movie I remotely liked.

    • Chesire11

I didn’t even bother with the first Hobbit movie. Not only was I put off by what Jackson did to LotR, but when I heard that he had Bilbo setting off from Hobbiton breathlessly, and excitedly proclaiming to his neighbors that he was off to “have an adventure,” all I could think is, “Wow, this guy seriously does not understand anything about Tolkien whatsoever!”

Did Orlando Bloom have plastic surgery or did they CGI his face?

Also, I don’t mind if Jackson expands the movies and pads the material as long as he uses Tolkien’s work. Adding parts of The Silmarillion is OK in my book.
