Behold! The Vashon Island Bicycle Tree!

One of the Seven Wonders of the Pacific Northwest!  It was left there in 1954 by a kid who didn’t want it and the rest is botanical history. Honest!

Yes, but do you have a photograph of C. Brown’s Kite eating tree?

  • Glenn

Berkeley Breathed wrote a delightful Christmas story about this bicycle called “Ranger Came Calling.”

I am strongly thinking about putting my son’s old bike in a tree, just to see what happens. On the down side, did you just reveal the hidden island?

    • chezami

      Nope. Different island.

Was the kid ever asked to pay a fine for littering?

  • JJG

That’s all well and good, but what about the endangered Pacific Northwest tree octopus?

So, is this like the opposite of the Giving Tree? Rather than giving selflessly to little boys, does this tree grab their toys away from them? I mean, if there’s a giving tree then there must be a taking tree somewhere, too, right? Doesn’t metaphysics demand it?
