…that the coach of the Mighty Seattle Seahawks is a Catholic.
It’s why he’s able to stay so humble even though your team sucks and deserves the pounding our Seahawks give it.
What would really help your smack talk is if we could be 100% sure you know the Seahawks are a football team.
Nah, everyone knows that Sounders F.C. is a football team. The Seahawks are an American Football team. Go Hawks!
The Sounders are a soccer club!
O my heavens. Someone who’s worse at this than Shea.
Football is a sport, right?
It is a big big business on the pro-level and also the college level.
I had to look it up.
He’s the D Coordinator. I assume Pete Carroll is historically Catholic since he’s Irish and Austrian.
I believe Belichick is as well, he’s Croatian. Nick Saban, another Croatian-American, is a very devout Catholic who has Mass celebrated every week in Alabama.
And Urban (great Papal name) Meyer also is a strong Catholic.
Belichick may be catholic but he’s no role model. He was named in a divorce lawsuit as the “other man” sleeping with the man’s wife.
Whew. To most of the rest of the country, Pete Carroll comes across as a jerk (as is the coach of the 49ers for that matter) so it’s a relief you weren’t referring to him.
Jim Harbaugh comes across as a jerk on TV, but, according to a Sports Illustrated article, he is a Catholic who spends a week every year going down to Peru to help out people.
Read that article too.
I guess he can come off as a jerk, but I also see it as his intense focus on the job at hand.
Is there a professional or college football coach who isn’t a jerk? I’m pretty sure the first questions in the job interview are, “Can you scream profanity for 3 hours straight?” followed by, “Can you stalk up and down the sidelines, smacking gum with your mouth open? Did your mama teach you no manners? Who is the better role model: Sergeant Hulka from Stripes or Needermeyer from Animal House?”
There are a few that seem to rise above the fray. Mike McCarthy of the Packers immediately comes to mind. I believe he attends daily Mass.
You mean “a” coach?
That article is about defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, not Pete Carroll.
Jim Harbaugh’s a Catholic, and Peyton Manning is a devout Christian. I believe he’s a member of the First Christ Church of Audible.
That particular denomination is headquartered in Omaha.
You’re getting way too sports-knowledgy for this crowd, Dan.
Tom Brady is *sigh* Catholic.
LOL, I wound up picking the Seahawks in the pool I play but I wouldn’t be so confident if I were you. Something tells me San Fran is on the up swing and the Seahawks are not. Anyway, both games on Sunday should be fun to watch.
Steve Spag…something Italian… was the Rams coach for a couple years. The team was lousy…it still is. Can’t blame him, I guess.
Catholic Spag and his wife married at a Church at the Vatican.
I’m sure his faith will be a great comfort to him after the Broncos win the SuperBowl.
You meant to type “Patriots” right? 😉
🙁 yeah. crow is, not surprisingly, tough this time of year.
If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. I will refrain from commenting on Pete Carroll.
