A pun Dawn Eden would be proud of

A reader passes this along:

The March 24 New York Daily News had a long story about New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio publically saying that in a current controversy involving charter schools he had not adequately his position and his actions. The first paragraph was one sentence by the reporter, Corinne Lestch: “It’s a mayor culpa.”

Still not as good as Dawn’s headline on the cop injured by an exploding toilet (“Hurt in the line of doody”), but pretty good.

I believe that when Dawn was still there, she was responsible for the “Mayor Culpa” headline when Hizzoner apologized to the Indian tourist youths who were dragged off a bus and handcuffed while the police searched for their nonexistent backpacks after a ticket agent reported that they had “acted suspicious” (i.e., had dark skins and talked furrin.)

My favorite: A pensioner in an old folks home complained bitterly about pest problems in her apartment. The final straw was when a centipede came out of her faucet when she was getting a drink. The headline: “80 year old woman survives a fall of 100 feet into a glass of water.”
