Prayer Requests and Works of Mercy

Prayer Requests and Works of Mercy April 13, 2015

A reader writes:

Please pray for this young man who was struck by lightning.

Father, grant him complete healing in body, soul, and spirit. Give his caregivers grace, compassion, wisdom, counsel, knowledge, understanding, creativity, insight, skill, and the proper technology to assist in that healing. Give him and all who love him grace, peace, consolation, strength, faith, hope, and love. Mother Mary and St. Luke, pray for him. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Another reader writes:

This family lives in Twin Falls, Idaho. They have limited means and purchased a new home, only to have the sewer main break on them shortly after. They may lose their home if they can’t address the situation very soon.

Father, hear our prayer for provision for this family through Christ our Lord. Mother Mary and St. Joseph, pray for them!

Another reader writes:

I have a praise report and another prayer request.
For myself, I’ve been happy now sometimes, and on occasion I even smile. Thank you for your prayers.
For my extended family, there’s a certain enormously screwed-up situation which has been going on for a while now, but has suddenly grown even more enormous and screwed-up. The details don’t matter so much as that there’s people involved. Please pray for everyone involved.

Father, thank you for hearing our prayer. Continue your work of healing in this man’s life and extend it to his family as well. Mother Mary, St. Joseph, and St. Dymphna, pray for them. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Dear family and friends,

Sorry for the mass email, but we’re hoping you’ll be able to give our family a small bit of help and this seems to be the best means of doing so.  All it requires is that you vote at a Facebook page (link listed below — and please feel free to forward this request on to as many friends as possible).

Background info: Our eldest, Ryan, will be graduating high school in a couple of months and he wants to learn a trade.  Specifically, he wants to become an electrician.

Through his research, Ryan discovered that Mike Rowe of the TV show, “Dirty Jobs,” established a foundation dedicated to providing scholarships to help young men and women go to trade school.  He has entered the “Mike Rowe WORKS” scholarship competition and needs your help to compete.

Ryan has submitted a written essay (attached) and a four-minute video essay, which you can view here (click on the “View Entries” button at the bottom of the page, then Ryan’s video should be the first one listed – if not, you can search for his name):

https://www.facebook.com/DeltaTechHornLake?v=app_486254294756872&rest=1

The scholarship winner is determined by whoever gets the largest number of votes for his/her video.  In order to vote, you’ll have to login to a Facebook account.  The foundation uses the Facebook aspect to limit voting to one vote per account (if you don’t have a Facebook account, it’s easy to get one and you don’t have to provide any personal information).   Unfortunately, it is a networking exercise and is not based on the merit, content or quality of the written or video essay.  That said, I think you will find both of Ryan’s entries worthy of your endorsements.

********* Voting closes on May 4th, so vote now while you’re thinking about it!!! **********

Again, please forward this email to whomever you like.  Obviously, we’re trying to get Ryan’s video in front of as many people as possible.

Thanks very much, and we’ll let you know how it goes.
