It’s amazing how things work out.

So, some years ago I took a walk with my guys. In the course of it, my eldest son Luke was inspired to play a few tricks with his camera (he is a CGI animator by trade and plays with film and image for a living). Result: this bit of silliness:

Anyway, today I got a letter from reader Rebecca Mlinek regarding her daughter Katie:

A few years ago, I emailed you about a movie my little girls made, inspired by a stop-motion film your sons had done. As it turns out, it sparked a true passion in my oldest daughter. She’s almost 17 now, and has been winning teen film fests regularly. I’m including a link to her latest movie, because I’m proud of her, and I think it’s beautiful, and I thought you might be interested in the strange twists and turns your influence has taken in the little Catholic bubble. Maybe my daughter would have found a passion for film anyway, but the fact is that a silly afternoon with your family nudged the current of a little girl’s life on the opposite coast. It’s a weird world. No wonder we are told we can’t possibly know for sure how it will all balance out in the end.
