Turns out Martin Luther King was a whiner

Turns out Martin Luther King was a whiner September 26, 2016

Here is the view of race in Trump’s America.  Something called “The Patriot Federation” writes: “You’re protesting because you’re oppressed?  If you were actually oppressed, you wouldn’t be allowed to protest.”

Yes. Since King and the Civil Rights movement had a legal right to protest, being murdered, bombed, lynched, burned, shot, beaten, hosed, bitten by dogs, denied housing, forced to use separate entrances and water fountains, and denied the right to marry were not oppression at all.  Same goes today for those protesting innocent people being killed by cops and beaten up by Trump supporters (with Trump’s encouragement). Bunch of whiners.

Scott Eric Alt remarked that for years he told liberals who accused the right of racism, “That’s not what we’re about.” I did the same and, like Scott, genuinely believed that. Then, when Trump ascended, he found himself, to his astonishment, telling conservatives, “That’s not what we’re about!” Me too.

But, as Trump and his base (2/3 of whom *still* believe Obama to be a Kenyan Muslim) aggressively made clear, that *is* what they’re about. Conservatives who realized that liberals were right about their critique have abandoned this racist barbarism and its Vandal Chieftain and are politically homeless. Conservatives in denial are saying the stupidest thing possible: “Oh, liberals have been saying that for years! You gonna listen to liberals? Then you must *be* a liberal! I bet you secretly support abortion, doncha?” And so the unborn once again get dragooned into acting as human shields for the *real* priorities of this demented political subculture.

And the most amazing part? The same political subculture that says stuff like the “Patriot” quote above simultaneously whines about “oppression” when Macy’s greeters say “Happy Holidays” or Starbucks coffee cups don’t suit them. And they buy it hook, line and sinker when a racist fraud who sees no need to ask God for forgiveness leads them to an exceeding high mountain and bids them bow and worship him with these words:

“When they don’t want to say ‘merry Christmas’ in department stores anymore. I won’t shop at places that don’t say ‘merry Christmas.’ Guess what? I don’t too much shopping,” he said to applause. “No, no, it’s true. When I see these stores, and they have a red wall and they have nothing on it. They don’t want to say ‘merry Christmas’ anymore. I say, ‘Why don’t you say merry Christmas?'”

Trump vowed to change the department-store situation when it comes to wishing people “merry Christmas.”

“I’ll tell you one thing: I get elected president, we’re going to be saying ‘merry Christmas’ again. Just remember that,” he said. “And by the way, Christianity will have power, without having to form.”

He added: “Because if I’m there, you’re going to have plenty of power. You don’t need anybody else. You’re going to have somebody representing you very, very well. Remember that.”

This is the face self-proclaimed Real Christians in America present to the world and their children. Not surprisingly, they are losing their children. It’s not that the Nones are rejecting God so much as they are rejecting the bizarre funhouse mirror thing that is Real American Christianity[TM]. They, in fact, respond powerfully to Pope Francis and saints like Mother Teresa. It’s just that Real Christians[TM] treat Pope Francis as the gravest threat they face and the Nones are not stupid and see that.

We have a chance to evangelize the rising generation. We are radically blowing it. Because when Trump says, “If I’m there, you’re going to have plenty of power. You don’t need anybody else” Real Christians[TM] believe that, and don’t grasp that “anybody else” includes God.
