An Unusual Letter

A reader writes:

Subject: Your book titled, “by what authority”

I had seen this book available for purchase in my local parish but was unable to buy it for the first week. My anxiety increased daily as I knew that the books were cycled regularly due to frequent purchasing of others within the parish. As I read the book, the names of fathers whom my husband and I had listened to from Catholic media came to mind. During this pondering, we were wondering, why are you not a priest? From our perspective, it seems to be a perfect fit.

My wife would object to me being a priest. So would the pope. So would any congregation unfortunate enough to have me as their pastor.
