Hi Faith No, I actually just looked it up. It’s called “Islam and the Blackamerican: Looking toward the Third Resurrection” by Sherman A. Jackson.I always see it at the book store. I should skim through it next time. Have you read it?

We hardly hear about black American Muslims, it was nice to read this. I believe there is a book about black American Muslims. I forget the name of it… but I’ve been wanting to check it out.Anyway, this was a great post. I happen to side with “Sisters in Islam” and believe that polygyny is no longer valid, but I do understand that there are women who choose to live this way. I also understand that the issues are very complex.Muslim women have a lot of aspirations and they’re not just limited to getting married. I agree with you that it would be nice to see more stories that show us that marriage isn’t the only thing Muslim women aspire for.

Great post; I like your points especially about the stupidity of presenting the idea of marriage as all Muslim women’s only goal.
