shakeel - part of the process of becoming a "good speaker" is experience, and these female scholars have to be given the oppurtunity on stage to build up that experience, and as Shaykh Hamzah said in his concluding remarks "its ALWAYS good to hear from women, who provide different insights which men dont have".

Just got to love Sheikha Aisha Al Adawiyyah!!

I dont mean to discourage anyone or to be mean, but I think the main reason there arent as many female speakers as men is because the male speakers are just better speakers than the female. I'm not saying they are better because they are male, they are just better.

Let's be honest here... would any of the three sisters who spoke at the conference have been invited to speak there if they were male? Again, I dont mean to be mean, but in the spirit of open academic conversation, the three sisters who spoke at the conference were not in the same league as Shaikh Hamza Yusuf, Zaid Shakir and Shaikh Sulaiman Mulla. I honestly dont care if the speaker is male or female, I just want to listen to a good speech... and this is what I percieve as being indicative of true equality.
