So I do believe that neither side should be extremely single sided: Neither feminists having their apostate martyrs, nor Muslim sides having their hijabi martyrs; neither Muslims focusing on sexualization of hijabis entirely and neglecting the sexualization of the uncovered female "other" entirely, all for the sake of better co-existence

Very interesting article.

I agree that German feminists of Turkish descent who are very visible in the discourse on Islam in Germany were relatively silent in the Marwa al Sherbini case. But one has to also see that in the "honour killing" case of 15 year old Büsra Ö., in which her refusal to wear hijab and "inappropriate" behavior on her part were in the father's words the motives for murder, Muslim organizations' representatives were equally silent.
Some Muslims under 4 eyes tell the reason willingly: "Marwa died for complying with God's commands. Büsra went against them. How can the two be the same?" when one asks if they are not the same: One dying for her wish to wear hijab, one dying for her wish not to wear . So the fault is not only on one side.

I also believe that aside far-right circles being wrong on a lot of things there is some truth in a racist sexism or sexist racism towards German women: They ARE referred to as loose women based on their appearance in Muslim communities.I believe to be fair and promote better coexistence Muslim organizations should work against these views (and not let things deteriorate to Australian standards where highest scholars will compare non hijabi women to "raw meat cats circle will circle around and tear on" - especially tasteless since this statement was made after gang rape of an "indecently dressed woman"; tastelessly, the perpetratorss Muslim families called for punishment of the "wh***" in court).
